About

I’m Carolyn, a Senior UX/UI Designer and design leader with over a decade of experience designing complex, human-centered digital products across a range of industries.

I lead end-to-end UX and UI efforts for SaaS platforms, enterprise software, and HMI-driven systems, translating complex workflows and technical constraints into clear, intuitive experiences. My work spans discovery, research, interaction design, validation, and delivery, and I regularly partner with product, engineering, and stakeholders to align user needs with business and system requirements.

My background includes in-house roles within biotech and higher education, as well as consulting across many industries. This experience has shaped a pragmatic, systems-oriented design approach grounded in collaboration, accountability, and measurable impact.

Accessibility and inclusive design are core to my practice. Early in my career, I worked closely with users of varying abilities, which continues to inform how I design for clarity, usability, and real-world constraints, especially in healthcare and regulated environments. I’m passionate about building products that support expert, internal, and patient-facing users alike.

Teaching & Mentorship

Alongside my design work, I teach UX and design courses on Skillshare, where I share practical techniques and real-world insights from my professional experience. Since 2020, I’ve created six courses with 96% of student reviews indicating the classes met or exceeded expectations.

Teaching allows me to sharpen my own thinking, mentor designers at different stages of their careers, and contribute to the broader design community.

Learning & Growth

I hold a BFA in Art & Design from the University of Michigan’s Stamps School of Art & Design. I continue to deepen my expertise through ongoing education, including advanced coursework in UX design and project leadership, most recently completing UX Design and Project Management certifications from Google.

I’m driven by continuous learning, especially in areas where design intersects with complex systems, accessibility, and evolving technologies.
